Williamsville, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A Sherman native and longtime member of the Williamsville-Sherman School Board has resigned.

According to a social media post from the district confirmed to Capitol City Now, Superintendent Tip Reedy says he doesn’t want to speak for Matt Seman, but think it might have just been time for Seman to step down, effective January 21.  Seman is in the middle of a term that expires in April, 2027, and was the board’s president.

Because of that, Reedy says the district is accepting applications from residents of Fancy Creek Township.  Applications are being accepted until 3:00 p.m. January 20.  That person will serve the remainder of Seman’s unexpired term.

“On behalf of WCUSD#15, we would like to thank Matt Seman for his unselfish service to the WCUSD#15 Board of Education, WCUSD#15 School District, and wcusd#15 Community for the past 14.5 years,” said Reedy, in the social media post.

A new board member will have to be elected to serve as president, and the board will also have to select Seman’s replacement.

Seman is a Vice President of United Community Bank, and was previously employed by the State of Illinois’ Capital Development Board.  According to a district biography, he has two children, one of whom has graduated from Williamsville-Sherman, and is married to his wife Shelly.
