Veteran Meteorologist Nick Patrick joins WAND; forecasts to be heard on WTAX

Decatur, IL (WAND) – Taylorville-native Nick Patrick joins WAND News as morning meteorologist.

Patrick will lead weekday morning weather coverage on WAND News Wake Up from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. He will also make streaming appearances on WAND Now’s Sunrise and Sips at 7 a.m. and appear occasionally on WAND News @ Noon.  Weather forecasts from WAND are heard daily on Capitol Media Group stations, including Newstalk 93.9 & AM 1240 WTAX

Patrick joins fellow Eastern Illinois University graduate Lacey Spence and veteran anchor Deron Molen in the mornings.

“WAND News cuts through the noise while providing important weather information for viewers,” said Patrick. “Joining the morning team and veteran weather team at WAND is a fantastic chance to continue my passion here at home and provide Central Illinois with information to keep themselves and their families safe.”

After graduating from EIU, Patrick made weather forecasting stops in Mississippi, West Virginia, and Texas. He has spent the last four years forecasting in Central Illinois and has more than a decade of experience forecasting all types of weather.

He is an AP Award winner for Best TV Weather Anchor. Patrick also has experience as a traffic reporter and producing.

“Nick’s experience and knowledge of Central Illinois is a big advantage for our viewers and weather team,” said WAND News Director Rod Hissong “Aside from his weather skills and abilities, Nick is a great person, and our viewers will enjoy spending their mornings with him.”

Patrick joins WAND Chief Meteorologist Jim Kosek and Meteorologist Alivia Colon on the WAND Weather team.
