Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Artists formerly known as “The Dixie Chicks” are coming to the Illinois State Fair.

According to a news release, the Illinois Department of Agriculture and the State Fair say The Chicks will be a part of “an already stacked Grandstand line up,” and will perform Saturday, August 22, the next to last day of this year’s fair.

“We’re proud to continue bringing top tier entertainment to the Illinois State Fair, and The Chicks are a fantastic addition to this year’s lineup,” said Illinois Department of Agriculture Director Jerry Costello, in a news release. “Their music has stood the test of time and continues to resonate with fans of all ages. We’re excited to welcome them to Springfield this August.”

According to the fair, after a 14 year hiatus, The Chicks returned to the studio in 2020 with their most recent album, “Gaslighter.”  That was also the year the group removed “Dixie” from their name amid potential negative connotations.  This, despite the fact that their popularity remains.

“The Chicks are known for putting on an unforgettable show,” said Rebecca Clark, fair manager, also in a news relase. “With a catalog of songs that so many people know and love, this will be a special night at the Grandstand that fairgoers won’t want to miss.”

Tickets range from $88 to $168, with an optional $30 pre-show party ticket that can be added.  Tickets go on sale Saturday at 10:00 a.m. through Ticketmaster.
