Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Perhaps the most important project of the year for District 186 is coming along.

“The superintendent search is continuing to progress along nicely,” school board vice president Buffy Lael-Wolf said during Monday’s meeting. “We continue to be on our set timeline. We’re looking to make an announcement somewhere near the end of January.

“I just wanted to let the community know that we appreciate their participation in our focus groups, if you participated in a survey, and having those conversations with (the Illinois Association of School Boards) really helps them find candidates that are a good match with our district.”

Superintendent Jennifer Gill is retiring at the end of the current school year.
