Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A Springfield man is accused of trying to kidnap a young boy from a southeast side park.

Springfield Park District Police say on social media Rodly Pierre, 34, was arrested and is in the Sangamon County Jail on charges of Attempted Kidnapping, Aggravated Battery, Unlawful Restraint, and Disorderly Conduct.

Police were called to Kiwanis Park around 5:15 p.m. Monday.  They say they were notified a man tried to take a two-year-old boy.

Pierre was arrested at the park.  Springfield Police assisted the Park District Police.

While online court records are not available in this case as of late Tuesday, court records indicate Pierre was arrested last Thursday on a misdemeanor charge of Criminal Trespass to Property, and has a pre-trial hearing in that case December 19.
