Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A search of a Springfield home Thursday allegedly turned up evidence of child pornography, leading to a man being taken to jail.

According to a news release from the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Department, Ryan Atkinson, 35, was arrested on a warrant charging three counts of Child Pornography, Class X felonies, and three accounts of Unauthorized Video Recording, Class 3 felonies.  Atkinson is in the Sangamon County Jail at least until he can appear in court.

The Sheriff’s Department says search warrants at Atkinson’s North Walnut Street home Thursday morning allegedly turned up “multiple recordings and electronic devices” that will now be subject to forensic examinations.

Authorities say the investigation started January 14.

“We appreciate the ongoing support and assistance in this case from the Office of the Illinois Attorney General and the Sangamon County State’s Attorney’s Office,” said Sheriff Paula Crouch, in a news release.  “I also want to commend our detectives for their thorough investigative work,”
