Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A donation and some help for resources are on the way to Kenya, all thanks to the Dominical Sisters of Springfield. They will be traveling, starting Friday, with spinning wheels and drop spindles and other supplies in their suitcases and will teach locals how to use them. Sister Anita Cleary was a guest on the WTAX Morning Newswatch and she discussed the upcoming trip for the sisters!

How did this all start?

“It all started out with a very simple idea of sharing some other spinning wheels and different library related items when I was having a conversation with Dr. (Margaret) Lombe (a Springfield Dominican associate). And it just kind of moved on forward from there. We had more items than we needed, and this was a way to teach others, so we have a way to support their families.”

Bringing resources all the way to Kenya to help bring support to families. What all can we expect for this trip?

“We will also be working with different individuals. there will be different women’s groups visiting some of the different orphanages. So there’s different connections.
We also have family in Kenya. And so, we’re hoping to meet some of them also.”
