Serbian point guard receives eligibility approval for the 2025-26 season after NCAA review

Champaign, IL (CHAMBANA TODAY) –  Serbian point guard Mihailo Petrovic has been cleared to play for the Fighting Illini in the upcoming 2025-26 college basketball season. After completing his review with the NCAA Eligibility Center, Petrovic is classified as a sophomore and has three years of eligibility remaining.

Petrovic joins Illinois after a successful stint in Europe, where he played for Mega Superbet in the Adriatic League First Division (ABA). Last season, he averaged 14.2 points, 7.3 assists, and 2.8 rebounds, shooting 49% from the field and 33% from beyond the arc.

The Illini will open their regular season next Monday, Nov. 3, at State Farm Center against Jackson State. Single-game tickets are now available for purchase at FightingIllini.com.
