Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A longtime grocery store location on Clear Lake in Springfield has just days left to be open.

According to social media posts, the Save-a-Lot store for the city’s east side, 2520 Clear Lake Ave., is closing. Its last day will be Christmas Eve, shuttering at six p-m.

No reason has been given for the closure, but the store thanked its customers.

Around the time of the pandemic, Save-a-Lot as a company transitioned into what’s called a wholesale model — licensing them to independent owners.

No word on how many people will be losing their jobs.
