Chicago, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Illinois Governor JB Pritzker says he still doesn’t want the National Guard or federal authorities trying to take on policing in Chicago.

Presitdent Trump has said crime is rampant there, while Pritzker says data proves crime is declining.

Either way, Pritzker tells CBS News’ “Face the Nation” it would be nice if he got warning other than through the media.

“They ought to be coordinating local law enforcement,” said Pritzker.  “They ought to let us know when they’re coming, where they’re coming, if it’s ICE, or if it’s ATF, or whoever it is.  They don’t want to do that either.  It’s disruptive.  It’s dangerous.”

And Pritzker says, he believes it’s right out of the Authoritarian playbook.

Pritzker also claims it’s not just about fighting crime for Trump.

“He has other aims other than fighting crime.  That’s the first thing we should understand,” said Pritzker.  “The second is, it’s an attack on the American people, by the President of the United States.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed over the weekend more ICE resources will soon be in the city.  Noem said that also on “Face the Nation.”
