SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The University of Illinois Springfield is hosting an open house for prospective students interested in going to college. Kathryn Kleeman, The UIS Director of Admissions was on on the WTAX Morning Newswatch discussing their upcoming open house on October 12th.

“When you’re looking at colleges, I’m a big believer, and you kind of get a gut feeling about, ‘hey, these people look like they would be friends. You know, I like the food, the rooms in the residence hall. They’re cool.
I could live there and then you get to meet all the staff and faculty, and you think, oh, there are good people. They’re going to support me.'”

When coming to this open house expect a great time. No need to rush.

“Monday, October 12th, most kids are out of school, so it’s a great time to come out to the campus and see what UIS has to offer. During that day, we’re going to have campus tours, tour of our residence life facilities, both our residence halls and our apartments at down houses. We will have academic sessions where students can meet with different academic programs that they’re interested, learn about what they have to offer.
We’ll have people who talk about internships, about financial aid, about studying abroad, all the different things that you can experience during college.”
