New Berlin man dead after crash near Virden

Virden, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A New Berlin man is dead after his car crashed early on New Year’s Day near Virden.

According to a news release from Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon, an autopsy done Friday on Brandon Pond, 30, shows he died of “multiple blunt force injuries.”

Allmon says Pond’s car left the roadway and crashed on the 17000 block of Lead Line Road in Sangamon County, near Virden, during the “early morning hours” of January 1.

Allmon’s office says an investigation into the accident continues.  No other information was released.
