‘Miles of Smiles’ this year’s Illinois State Fair theme

Springfield, Illinois (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Illinois State Fair officials have announced the theme for the 2026 Illinois State Fair is “Miles of Smiles”. This year’s theme was chosen to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Route 66.

State Fair Manager Rebecca Clark said in a press release, “Every great road trip is filled with memorable stops, and the Illinois State Fair is one of Illinois’ favorite destinations. Whether you are enjoying a lemon shake-up along the parade route, discovering a new favorite carnival ride, or revisiting annual family traditions, we invite everyone to come experience the smiles, nostalgia, and adventure at this year’s Fair”.

The Fair kicks off August 13th with the Twilight Parade at 5:30pm. The parade route begins in Lincoln Park, then along Sangamon Avenue, and entering the fairgrounds through the Main Gate.

Anyone wishing to participate in the Twilight Parade can register through July 6th. More information is available at statefair.illinois.gov or by calling the Special Events office at 217-782-0777.

The Fait this year run from August 13th through the 23rd.
