Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The kennels at Sangamon County Animal Control and Adoption Center are still completely full and there is no end in sight of dogs in need of shelter. We’re asking our community to please consider fostering or adoption to free up kennel space for the dogs that arrive at our shelter every day.

Our Dog of the Week is Forrest. This big chunky two year old arrived at SCACAC on January 15th as a cruelty confiscation. He’s been waiting four months for someone to notice him and give him a chance at a new life in a loving home. Forrest is a big strong boy and our volunteer says he does okay on a leash and he’s a friendly guy. He’ll do best with someone with experience with big dogs.

Forrest is available for foster and adoption just like all of the dogs in our shelter. If you’re thinking about adding a new family member please come out to Sangamon County Animal Control to meet them. Shelter hours are Monday-Friday 10:30-4:15 and Saturday 9:00-1:00.
