Man charged with aggravated battery of a child after infant dies in Christian County

Taylorville, IL (WAND) – A man was arrested after an infant died from a reported fall in Christian County.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office posted to Facebook Wednesday that emergency officials got a call around 8:45 p.m. July 31 about an injured infant who had fallen.

An investigation found that the fall could not have caused all the injuries. An autopsy is pending.

The Sheriff’s Office confirmed to WAND News that Braxton Williamson was arrested in connection with the case.

According to Christian County court records, Williamson is charged with aggravated battery of a child under 13.

The investigation is ongoing.
