Macoupin County pair arrested after vehicle chase and foot search

Menard County, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The Menard County Sheriff’s Office reported on their Facebook page Tuesday the arrest of two people from Macoupin County after a vehicle chase and search on foot.

A Menard County deputy saw a vehicle travelling along Illinois 123 early Tuesday morning just after 12am. The vehicle had a revoked registration.

After a chase through several farm fields and county roadways, the vehicle crashed into some timber and officers discovered the suspects fled.

A thermal imaging drone and K-9 unit were called in. A short time later, 36-year-old Annyssa Myers of Virden was taken into custody without incident.

Officers located the driver of the vehicle in a nearby pond, where the pulled him out of the water and began life-saving aid. 47-year-old Caleb Prose, of Girard, was taken to Springfield Memorial Hospital for treatment.

He is wanted on several warrants including warrants in Putnam County, Montgomery County, and Calhoun County, Georgia.

Additional charges are pending from the Menard County State’s Attorney.
