Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – It’s been a big week for small business.

The Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce has given out its 41st Annual Small Business Awards.

Brian and Melissa Reilly of Cured Catering are the Small Business Owners of the Year. “They had that fire on the former MacMurray campus in Jacksonville, where they were leasing a portion of that space and wiped out that location and all their equipment,” said Michelle Ownbey of the Springfield Business Journal, “and they ended up building a new facility to serve as their headquarters near Dawson.” Ownbey says the couple also owns Arlington’s in downtown Springfield.

Ownbey says the other winners were:

Lifetime Award: Cindy Davis, Resource One.

Not-for-Profit Director of the Year: Penny Powell, Fifth Street Renaissance.

New and Emerging Business Owner of the Year: Becky Gabany, ChangeBridge Consulting.

Ownbey was a guest on the WTAX Morning Newswatch.
