Springfield (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – With June on the horizon, there are tons of fun events happening in your capitol city! Amy Beadle of Visit Springfield Stopped by the WTAX Morning Newswatch to discuss all these amazing events.

Nothing says fun, like a family fun day at the sportspark! This Saturday!

Scheels is having a family fun day at the park so that they had an open date on Saturday, so from 11 to 3, it’s an all free event.
Bounce houses, the Sangamon County Animal Control. Pet adoptions, all kinds of fun stuff. So that’s all free.
Come out and enjoy. That looks like the weather is going to be fantastic”

History seems fun! Let it come alive!

“The 17th annual “History Comes Alive” summer experience. Ten weeks long all through the summer starts June 4th runs through August 8th, all over downtown in different various sites and attractions. We have live history reenactments. Some of the favorites, I think, are Abraham Lincoln delivering his house divided speech, where he delivered it in the old state Capitol, very moving experience to be part of that.
He also gives his farewell address at the Lincoln Depot, where he left from, when he left Springfield to become president.”

Start those engines! June is going to be a fun one!

“And then, of course, we’re really excited about June 20th. That is when we are the kickoff city for “The Great Race“. That is a huge, huge deal.
Please come downtown that Saturday and spectate and see these amazing antique cars. I believe they’re 1941 and older. They’re going to kick off from Springfield and do Route 66 for ‘The Great Race’ this year.”
