Former New Berlin School District employee charged for alleged sex with minor

Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A now-former New Berlin School District employee has formally been charged, a year after she allegedly had an improper sexual relationship with a minor.

Court records indicate Lindsey Prather, 43, faces multiple counts, including Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse and Child Sexual Abuse Material.  She was arrested Thursday.

According to a news release, the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Department reports the incidents were first relayed to local police in April of 2025, before being sent to deputies.

Prather remained held in the Sangamon County Jail as of Friday afternoon.  Online court records did not list any upcoming dates. — no word on when she will be back in court.  According to sources, Prather is no longer an employee of the New Berlin districtl.
