SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (CAPITOL CITY NOW) — With the days getting shorter and darkness being a thief’s best friend, Crime Stoppers wants to remind you that a few simple habits can help prevent vehicle burglaries and thefts.

Every time you park—whether you’re at home, at work, or just running into a store—remember three things:

Lock it. Take it. Hide it.

  • Lock your vehicle, even if you’ll only be gone for a minute.
  • Take your keys, wallet, purse, and other valuables with you.
  • Hide anything you must leave behind before you arrive at your destination.

At home, keep your vehicle locked and your keys or key fob inside your house.

If you have any information about any crime report it. Crime Stoppers will always keep you anonymous and if your tip results in an arrest, you could receive a cash reward of up to $2,500.

Remember, Crime Stoppers only wants your information, not your name.
