Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – One business is moving from White Oaks Mall, to a location across the street.

The Springfield Business Journal reports Kay Jewelers will be going across Veterans Parkway to White Oaks Plaza.

“Kay Jewelers is building out a space that used to be occupied by Sally Beauty,” said Michelle Ownbey, Executive Editor, on the WTAX Morning Newswatch. “The former Big Lots in that shopping center is still vacant, but other than that, it’s pretty close to being fully occupied with the addition of Kay’s going in there.”

Ownbey says there is apparently room for another set of businesses in that center.

“There’s also a new strip center under construction on West White Oaks Drive. This is just to the west — a little closer to the University of Spa and Cosmetology Arts. It’s going to have six different units in that strip center.”

But, when the Journal first reported on that earlier in the week, the Facebook posting was inundated with people critical. They say some of the businesses coming to Springfield should consider buying and/or renovating a building downtown, and locate there instead.
