Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The building at 430 E. Monroe is getting another chance to be home to a bar.

“It was most recently Whiskey Jack’s, which closed following St. Patrick’s Day,” Springfield Business Journal executive editor Michelle Ownbey said on the WTAX Morning Newswatch. “You may remember it as the Firehouse, Craft Beer Bar, Jake and Elwood’s, the Wooden Nickel, and now it’s going to be known as the Bus Stop. The new owners are Vinal Luciano and Troy Minton. They’re both active in the local music scene.”

“It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time,” Luciano told the Business Journal. “It was actually a dream of my mother’s, who’s no longer here.”

The SBJ reports entertainment will be in the mix, too.

“The Bus Stop is gonna be all-inclusive in terms of multiple musical genres being represented,” explained Luciano. “There are some nice establishments downtown, but we just wanna add to it and try to bring some life back to the area. I used to come down to the Firehouse when I was a younger man, and it was always one of my favorite spots, so it’s kind of full circle.”
