Bicyclist hit in Springfield, authorities want help identifying suspect

Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The Sangamon County Sheriff’s Department says they need help finding someone who might have hit a man on bicycle early Tuesday morning.

Deputies say it happened before 4:30 a.m. near the Starnes Overhead location in the 1800 block of North Dirksen Parkway.

A man in his 60’s was on a bike and was hit in that area. They say he was initially unconscious when they got there, and is now hospitalized in intensive care.

The bike was travelling north in the southbound lanes when a southbound white-colored SUV struck him.
