Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The runner-up in the 2022 gubernatorial election is giving it another try. Republican Darren Bailey (pictured) made a campaign stop Thursday at the Capitol, in front of the governor’s office.

He and running mate Aaron Del Mar are promoting a “Blueprint for Illinois” which aims to, among other things, cut utility bills and end waste in government.

Del Mar also took a shot at the pretrial release portion of the Safe-T Act. “A man with a long record of arrests and prior offenses (is) accused of attacking a stranger on a public train, dousing her with gasoline, and lighting her on fire. He lit her on fire! How was someone with this record still free to do this?”

Said Bailey: “Our out-of-touch billionaire governor has allowed his hatred of Donald Trump to consume him. The end result is he has opted out of ‘no tax on tips’ and ‘no tax on overtime policy.’ Friends, this is a policy that even (2024 Democratic presidential nominee) Kamala Harris endorsed.”

The Illinois primary is March 17.
