UPDATE: 2 critically injured in Springfield mobile home park shooting; suspect found dead

UPDATED 6:06 p.m.

Springfield, IL (WAND) – Two people were seriously injured, and a suspect is dead after a shooting at a Springfield mobile home park on Sunday.

The Springfield Police Department said officers responded to a shooting just after 3:15 p.m. at the Northbrook Mobile Home Park on Peoria Road.

Springfield police said officers found a 33-year-old woman with life-threatening injuries to her face and shoulder after she had been shot. A 42-year-old man was also found shot in the arm. 

Both were taken to the hospital, and their conditions are unknown. 

Police said the suspect, identified as 52-year-old Scott Schattl, forced his way into the home and fired multiple shots. 

Schattl ran from the area, and Illinois State Police later found him dead inside his car in Stark County after he shot himself.
