Springfield woman arrested in fatal DUI crash

A Springfield woman has been arrested in connection with the automobile death of Marjorie Hinds of Petersburg.

According to ISP, 40-year-old Lori Moreno was traveling northbound on IL Route 97 at the same time Hinds was traveling in a minivan southbound in the same stretch of road, when Moreno’s truck crossed the center line and struck the minivan head on.

Hinds was taken to Springfield Memorial Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Moreno is charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and Transportation of Open Alcohol by Driver.

Hinds death remains under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner and the Illinois State Police.
