FORSYTH, Ill. (WAND) – A man was killed in a paragliding accident near Forsyth Tuesday morning.

The Macon County Sheriff’s Office was called to East Hickory Point Drive just east of Forsyth at 10:30 a.m.

A motorized paraglide had crashed into a field while trying to land. Witnesses said a gust of wind inverted the craft, causing it to rapidly lose altitude and crash.

The pilot of the paraglide was identified as a 43-year-old man from Macon County. His name has not yet been released pending notification of family by the Macon County Coroner.

The accident is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.
