Sunday at approximately 5:09 p.m., officers with the Springfield Police Department Street Crimes Unit served a search warrant in the 1300 block of E. Edwards Street.

While there the officers saw 18 year old Jeremiah Wesley, 23-year old Darius Thomas, along with a 17 year old juvenile male outside of the residence who were detained for further investigation.

During a search of the residence and surrounding areas officers located a loaded Black Rain AR style rifle.

Upon completion of the search, Jeremiah and Darius were transported to the Sangamon County Jail where they await formal charges from the Sangamon County States Attorney Office.

The juvenile was charged with possession of a firearm – No FOID and transported to the Sangamon County Juvenile Center.

Jeremiah was arrested for unlawful possession of a weapon by a gang member, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and possession of a firearm – No FOID.

Darius was arrested for unlawful possession of a weapon by a gang member, unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm – No FOID.
